I am a 22 year old person who stammers studying medicine at the Hull York Medical School. I also have an undergraduate degree in genetics with several publications in the field. Three years ago, I was a person who would always try to keep his stammer hidden from others, by avoiding stressful situations and swapping words. Since then, however, I have realised there is a better way to approach my speech. I have gradually become more open and accepting of my stammer with the help of speech therapy and the stammering community. I hope by being a BSA trustee I can help in creating a more understanding world for stammers and aid those who have struggled with stammering, like myself.
